I have a Stanadyne FM100 fuel/water separator along with a fuel heater coming to upgrade my pre pump filter setup.

How do you guys who are running the Stanadyne (Tom S. for sure) have the heater wired? Are you using the factory fuel heater wiring to get power or do you have it on a switch?

I have mine wired on the same circuit as the pump which is the relay I added to the fuse box. The fuel heater is self regulating. I made sure my wire was sized right for both the pump and the heater.

I don't know if the one I got is self regulating. I got the one that goes into the side of the filter base.

OK I am not sure either. Mine goes in the top. You could run yours off a switch if you wanted to.

Would it be a problem to run it off the stock heater?

Does the stock heater run all the time, no matter the temperature? I wouldn't want it to run during the summer.

I guess if the one I got doesn't self activate like the top mount does, I will get a top mount instead.

I ordered a WIX 5 micron fuel/water separator. Is there any negative reason why that wouldn't be better than the Stanadyne 150 micron filter?

The stock fuel heater has power all the time from what I remember. I am not sure about the 5 micron filter esp when it comes to suction restriction on the pump.
