sounds like possibly cavitation but what could cause it? it's pulling from a sump so there should be no restrictions, fuel level is half tank, fuel pressure is steady at 60.

Lance check how your line runs. Mine had a slight cavitation issue and it was due to how my line was routed. The fuelab did not like "pulling" from the sump. It was higher than the sump and would slightly drag until it primed.

For what it's worth after fixing the feed issue, I went through 3 pumps. All went out when they got wet.

well i found out it's wired on "high" so i'll rewire it tomorrow. hopefully that's it. the last time i drove it was in the rain though....can these pumps not get wet?

how did you get the pump to prime? haven't had an issue with it until today. mine sits higher than the sump as well but i can't really drop it any lower...

Soon as you park the truck bro, take the keys and throw them down a storm drain. Your fuel lab will work fine after that.

Run it on low for sure. It flows plenty. As for the pump it is supposed to be fully submersible.

I was told to put some dialectical grease on the electronic connections to keep the pump from killing itself in the wet. Never got around to it but I would try that for sure.

Priming the pump. Crack the filters just a hair to get the air out of the line, pump should stop cavitation and you seal the filter. As long as your fuel line is pretty straight and not any drastic upward sweeps you should be fine

They aren't meant to be run on high continuously.... hope you didn't hurt it.

I haven't had any trouble running these pumps in the rain.....

Somebody threw a ping pong ball in your tank.
1. The pump sucks it down to the sump, restricts the flow.
2. When the ball loses suction from the pump it starts to float.
3. The pump starts working again and sucks the ping pong ball back down into the sump.
4. Return to step 1 and repeat.

BTW. It was not me.

FYI...got it rewired to "low" and now it's niiiiiiiice and quiet. that thing must have been cavitating like a mother trying to pull fuel that fast.

couldn't have done it without you on this one Steve!

ok....now pump is screwing up again. running on "low" and is now making that same loud noise. when it's making the noise, it's also dropping 5ish psi on the gauge too. sounds like its cavitating or something but I'm not sure why/or where it would be drawing air. filters are tight and it's pulling from a sump. pump sits about 8" higher than the sump though???

sound like the pump is shot from running on high for a while or is it really pulling air?

parts of the gasket that some retard left in the tank when he installed them wrong on the sump the first time around. he thought he got it all out the first time he cleaned it.
