Just hooked up a 100psi gauge to check my fuel pressure at the bowl. Went with a Komatsu pressure test port so I can click on a gauge any time. What pressure should I be seeing on a stock fuel system? I used to know this but can't remember anymore.

Mine is a Cali truck and I see 68-72 PSI. I also have the Riffraff FRx.

Does it being a CA truck change fuel pressure? I dont believe so... That would mean a different FPR set up or pump. As far as I know there are only one of each.

55-65psi is the range you should be looking for.

I have heard that the CA trucks have increased fuel pressure compared to non CA trucks. Something to do with emmisions.

Here is where I found that info... http://powerstrokenation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117047

Regardless, you can buy different springs to get more fuel pressure anyway.

I have seen mine go up to 80psi, and I do not have a single fuel leak.

Using the California kit in a federal truck will result in increasing fuel pressure to about 60-65 psi from about 50-55 psi.

any injector builder will tell you much over 70 will raze hell with the injectors and shorten the life of them..
stock psi is around 55... 60-65 with a full RR is what my truck likes most..

I also just installed a fuel pressure gauge and mine starts at just shy of 68 ad drops to about 40 at wot.

high fuel pressure doesn't/can't damage the injectors...however excessive fuel pressure doesn't do anything other than overwork the fuel pump.

Excessively low fuel pressure can cause injector damage from the internal lack of lubrication at the plunger and barrel assembly, and rarely, nozzle failure from a lack of fuel cushioning the needle when it slams shut after injection..

Fuel pressure (on a HEUI injected engine) is only responsible for refilling the injector with fuel...in between injection events...and has no bearing on the volume of fuel expelled from the nozzle.

This is the way I have always figured it. I wouldn't see how high pressure fuel could hurt the injector.

the poppet valves have no contact with the fuel...

even high ICP pressure can't 'hurt' the poppet..it's just prolongs the refill time of the injector..which degrades performance at high rpm...of large(r) fuel injectors.

I can't fathom any reason that changing fuel pressure from 30psi (at idle) to 100psi (at idle) would change how the truck runs (at idle)... once the rpm comes up...the higher(ish) pressure can benefit injector refill...since there's less time to refill between injs events the higher the engine rpm.
