Just a quick question regarding fuel pressure. As far as i know the fuel pump supplies fuel at 10-15psi. Ok so what if it was 18psi? would that screw anything up?

I don't think 18psi will do anything, but what I have seen if a return line gets pinched or clogged it will blow out all the seals in the high pressure pump. So if you had like 65psi it will probably F something up because the pump can't return the fuel fast enough. And come to think of it it was a cp3 pump which i think is different on the 6.4. So that's probably no help. Lol

I"m probably going to buy a fuelab vortex pump for a duramax and use it on my truck. The duramax is preset to 18 psi and the dodge unit is preset to 8 psi. So i figured i better have a few psi more rather than not enough.

It's higher than 8psi, but I can't remember exactly what. Memory tells me 10 but its been a while.

The 3-8 psi measurement/spec is taken on the return side.

I could just get the airdog but the fuelab is a much better pump design. But im trying to see if the guy at fuelab will regulate the pump to 15psi or so for me but if they wont i need to decide on which pump to get.

I have had my airdog for over a year and hasn't skipped a beat making over 600hp daily. I was a little skeptical at first. The filters are easy to change and you can unplug it for anti theft. but I would just stick to what is proven.

If it matters, the Airdog 150 is 10 psi and the 165 is preset at 10 also with the ability to adjust. I could have swore I read that the stock LP pump only pushed 3-5 psi to the HPFP?

I work on volvo marine engines and the D4 and D6 engines don't even have a lift pump. Just CP3 and a plunger to prime When you put new filters on.

I want to think Shane had problems with FRP surge until he turned his airdog down so it may cause an issue

Ok thanks man! Do you happen to know what pressure he was having trouble at by chance? As far as the airdog pressure goes.

I really cant recall accurately, but I want to think it was below 10psi. Dont quote me. Maybe pm him (white_monster)
