Message: [QUOTE="smokinstroker, post: 480465, member: 973"] when you say bulkhead, im assuming you mean out of a draw straw from the top of the tank? the idea here, like described in the beginning of the thread, is that the pump have to do minimal work to get fuel to it (supply from tank to pump) gravity is your friend in this situation. a drawstraw being at the top of the tank will require the pump to pull(syphon) from the tank (up and out) which is where the "pusher pump" comes into play. keeping the HP pump happy and primed. with a sump you have the supply line coming from the very bottom point of the tank. Obviously your pump is not going to be mounted lower than the bottom of the tank, so you will have some upward slope, but the pump/filter will be roughly even or lower than the top/middle of the tank. this helps keep the supply (feed) line full and helps the pump prime easier. the ideal fuel setup runs as follows tank>feed line>water separator>pump>filter>regulated return>back to tank the pusher pump will in no way hurt the system, it is actually a good idea if you want to fork out the $, just make sure your LP pump does not restrict flow on the HP pump. hope this helps.
