I have a Irate fuel system for the OBS. For those who don't know it comes with a walbro GSL 392 fuel pump. At the moment I have 200/80s and it works fine. I plan on getting 300/200s in the future. Would a single Aeromotive A1000 Fuel pump be better than Dual Walbro pumps? It would be a simpler design that's for sure. I will be using a 5/8 supply with a fuel sump.

Last question, Will I have to run a larger return line with this set up?

Thanks.

I think most kits I see with a 5/8 supply have a 1/2 return. Don't know what u have now but I'd say the stock 5/16 isn't enough

I think a single a1000 would be more reliable then dual 392s only because I don't know anyone who has good luck with the 392. U can also look into the Bosch 044

the a1000 is a monster pump
read the install instructions from Aeromotive before you purchase it to see what it takes to properly install it.
there is nothing saying you cannot run dual tanks but you are not going to run an a1000 through the stock selector valve.
a seperate pump for each tank and check valves would work if you want to carry all that fuel, real spendy

see as the return will be after 2 1/8 npt fittings you should try and match that size at least but going overkill after restricting that monster to 1/8 npt is pointless I think
I would try and run DI fittings to the fuel rails fron and back if I ran an a1000

I have no intentions of using dual tanks. I should have stated that. ill look into the Di fittings thanks

I've got jakes full kit on my obs and the walboro pump lasted about 10,000 miles then quit. I put a fuel lab on and the pump was cavitating cuz it couldn't get enough fuel from the crappy stock lines and selector valves. I then proceeded to install a 38 gal rear tank with sump with all new lines. Only stock line left is the original stainless feed line that I'm using for the return. Pumps much quieter now and works flawless. Much less clutter under the truck and very simple set up. :ford:

I also have Jakes full kit mine came with the fuel lab pump. I haven't had any problems so far 300/200's with 14,000 miles and counting.

Thanks , this is exactly what I'm planning on doing. How did you extend the float in the tank ?

I'd give jake a call and talk to him since you have his kit. He'll be able to help you for sure. Iirc he uses fuel lab pumps now instead of the a1000. I can't remember for sure though. It's been a while since I talked to him. My kit has the fuel lab pump.

Keep in mind that the a1000 IS a monster pump at 10psi and no pump comes close to its specs, but at 70 psi the Bosch 044 is on it's heels with flow rate in GPH and is much smaller then the a1000. Just some food for thought

I actually used the sending unit out of the front tank and put it in the 38 gal rear tank. It had a longer arm on the sending unit. Then I just tweaked it further so it was accurate on the empty portion of gauge. My fuel guage stays on full for long time but works perfect on the bottom half. Works great. .

Jcart extended the tank sender arm about 7"(?) to get full range indication with the Spectra Premium F26E 38 gallon tank. PM him for an exact dimension.

Strickly sells the FueLab pump set up for reduced speed since at full speed its overkill (70gph@70psi at reduced speed). I'm installing a FueLab for each tank with a AN-10 check valve on the outputs, three filters and modifying the factory tank selector switch circuit to select the pumps.
