I posted originally in the Conversion section. But i am woundering.
Who is running 37" with a stock 3.73 gear? What kind of RPM's are you seeing? I am debating to remove my 4.30 and go back to 3.73's since i have to rebuild my front diff since it grenaded the bearings last week.
Opinions please.

You might find this helpful...

Please note that there are separate tabs at the bottom for the different trans gear ratios and the tire size (Rev per Mile) calculators. Just enter the values in the first workbook and it will provide engine speeds various gears and vehicle speeds.

Enjoy.

a good rule of thumb for gauging the proper R&P for your new tire set up is a simple math formula:

(New Tire Size DIVIDED BY OEM Tire Size) TIMES OEM R&P = New R&P

(37/33)* 3.73= 4.18.

You would get better RPM/Mileage if you downgraded to a 4.10 instead of the 4.30 IMHO.

I loved the 3.73's on 37's... My wifes Excursion still has this set up.

I'll have to get a shot this weekend for you.

What were you doing when it grenaded ?

Nothing.. I had just locked the hubs and was driving along in 2wd when after 20 miles the front end let out a horrific screaching noise coming to a stop then would not let the truck roll until the hubs were unlocked. What really sucks is this only had about 100 miles on the complete install. What i found when trying to remove the seized pinion was they were assembled incorrectly by someone trying to do me a favor while i was doing my conversion. I was not there when they did the front ARB in my axle as a very costly favor.
