priming? no priming necessary on a powerstroke. do you have an ohm meter? or atleast a test light and we can walk you thru the diag

First if you have never used a volt/ohm meter read the instructions, also you want a digital volt/ohm meter...

Then to test the relay put the meter on DC and with one side to a battery ground check the post on the relay. With the key off you should see battery voltage to just one large post of the relay. Now turn the key on. Now you should see battery voltage to the same large post and the other large post. There should be less than 0.3 volts difference between the two of them. So if you read 11.9 volts on one the other should read less than 11.6. If it is less then replace the relay.

To test the plugs you will find two plugs on each valve cover gasket. On each plug there are 4 pins, the glow plugs operate on the outside pins of each connector. Set the meter on ohms and zero the meter. With one side to a battery ground check each outside pin and write down the measurement that you get for reference. The plugs should be between 0.6 and 2 ohms, anything outside these measurements one way or the other is considered a bad plug.

Good suggestion on the HF multitester... HF stuff is fine for the casual user. Its not sexy or cool, but if money's short, Id definitely be investing in troubleshooting tools before mods for an old PSD.

f350psd96, if you can pull together $300, id get a scangauge also. You can do a lot with it and learn a lot about your motor's operation.
