Hey guys I work at a dealer and I do some UCI. Ive come across a 2005 eclb fx4 f250. I know quite a bit about cummins but im not well versed in 6.0s. I did the UCI on it, its very clean inside and for the most part around the engine bay. It only has 45,000 on it, was used as a tow rig for a camper so it sat probably half the year. From what I saw the turbo leaks oil, theres a leak at oil pan and it still has gold ford coolant. I noticed its completely stock, no deletes no nothing. The only thing im not sure of is if it was tuned, how can that be found? I can get it for around $17,000 the dealer is asking $20,000. Is this worth it?

1. These trucks like to work, and don't take to long periods of sitting well. If the owner babied the truck, expect some problems with a coked up turbocharger.
2. I have a 2005 F-250 CCSB Lariat I had to refinance to pay for a new oil and EGR cooler along with head studs and other bulletproofing. The bank told me the value of my truck was $16,900. That is well below the dealer's asking price for the truck you are interested in.
3. Go to a bank, credit union, or other lender not affiliated with the dealer and see what the loan value of the truck you are interested in is. Bid lower and give yourself room to negotiate. The trucks with the 6.0 engine have buyers spooked, you might want to bring that up if the dealer will not budge on price. I have seen instances where dealers will not take these trucks on trade.
4. Do the usual beefing up on the engine if you do buy it, head studs, oil and EGR cooler, check the injectors. Get rid of that Ford coolant.

Good luck.

I shouldve jumped on it before the public saw it, it sold today!

I wouldn't worry to much about it being sold.. There are many out there and IMO it wasn't that great a deal.. Sitting for 6 month intervals is not a good thing for a 6.0.. Now you have time to research how much money is needed to make a 6.0 reliable, take the costs of the truck and the costs of making it reliable and make an educated decision..

Just so that you know in the future, dealers give very little for a traded 6.0.. There are people like yourself that come in off the street looking for a truck that no nothing about the 6.0 and that's the person there looking for.. They say well we have a diesel with 40K on it, it's not even broke in.. Smart people do what you did, ask questions first, open your checkbook later..

The dealer offered me $5500 for a truck I sold for $12K and I took everything off of it and sold that for $3500..

Yea I knew it wasnt bulletproofed and would have to invest an additional couple thousand for that just like you said 6.0 are dime a dozen. Im really actually wanting a 6.4, if I come across a 6.4 and get my employee pricing ill more than likely go for it.
