Truck is going under the knife in a few days but noticed today while I was driving normal that when I would get on the pedal, I would hear this hair dryer sound. Never heard this sound, any thoughts on what it might be. Boost leak?

The 6.4 "hair dryer" sound is normal. it's all cause by the VGT turbo. Personally I hate that sound LOL I rather hear the engine.

That's odd, I have never heard that sound from my truck. And I know every sound my truck makes. Thought something was a little loose or maybe a boost leak

your vgt could possibly be haning up, or perhaps you have changed tuning recently that might make the vgt run higher duty cycles to prevent smoke?

Same tune as before.

Only difference was when I made an attempt to take my turbos off(stripped one of the bottom bolts of the up-pipes) I noticed that my boot that connects my CAI to atmo had split in half. Don't know how long it's been like this. After no turbo removal, I put everything back and used the same boot and somewhat went over the turbo some what with no clamp on the turbo side. Drove it about 3 miles just to make sure everything was fine with the fuel lines. Everything good. I drove it today to a shop that was about 35 miles away. No problem until I'm heading back home and noticed the sound was different. Went to o'reilly's and bought a cheap boot and put it on. Same sound.

could be the gasket on the back of the turbos vibrating or something, hard to say without hearing it
