First thing in the morning it cranks a really long time. After pressure shows in the dash it starts. I have a pressure gauge 3kpsi on the oil rail (not sure if its a valid test really) just to see what it reads and how long it takes for pressure to build for the HUEI system. At idle it reads 500psi +/- 20psi, High idle 2500+psi. Im assuming is normal.

Although im thinking i should find something closer to the oil pump itself to see what the rest of the oil pressure is, im assuming this would confirm massive oil drainage from the HUEI system.

Ive also come across a few articles here about long starts, with the oil pump worn it can cause this problem. Not sure if the boss wants to go that far into the truck or not.

Just a note: My boss used to work for International so he has a few hook ups. He has said that it might be fuel related and i had made a previous thread about the truck going into limp mode. I had asked about fuel pressure and stock pressure is 52psi. Another posted had said there is a couple of places on the fuel bowl that i can use to test pressure where are these ports as the truck will be sitting over night and id like to check both at the same time with the truck cold.

Low pressure oil pump is really easy, pull the harmonic balancer, and you're there, new pump is about $75. I would think if you were having fuel pressure issues, they usually show themselves described as hitting a wall while accelerating. That being said, a fuel pressure gauge is one of my favorite must have gauges.

try plugging it in, if it starts better its your glow plug system, not oil. these engines will hold enough heat to start well the rest of the day but overnight the motor gets completely cooled off to ambient temps and if your glow plugs aren't working right it'll start hard. My truck starts great all day after initial start up but now that we have cooler nights I have to let the wait for the gp's almost double the amount of time the wait to start light is on so it will start decent

I would agree/disagree, it could be GP's usually evidences by white smoke at startup, but that could also be worn injectors.

:whs:

Long starts even in the summer that are cured by plugging in is usually a sign of tired injectors. Mine will start down to 35º with 5 bad glow plugs.
