Has anyone ever had a traction bar break?

I've got quality bars but I've seen the strangest things break at the worst possible times. I'm gonna use 14" limit straps looped under the bars in the front just in case I ever destroy them at highway speeds....just wondering if anyone has done anything similar or if I'm just way too anal about this crap. LOL

As I've gotten older and more involved in safety management and risk assessment...these things get in my head and I can't get them out until I do something about it. lol

I'm not worried at all about the quality of the bars or components....I just have this innate ability to tear up an anvil with a feather. LOL

It's not tires I'm worried about either...it's the things I've seen laying in the street at night that tend to tear stuff up. Especially in the industrial areas around Houston. It's not uncommon to see large chunks of steel in the middle of the highway. I've had a railroad spike through a tire and wheel, ripped the fender completely off an old bug a friend had on some unknown piece of steel. It's a "sh!t happens" so be prepared thing I guess. LOL

I'm young and I always think about it. I had a set of harbor freight jacks skip teeth and drop (teeth were shallow) thank god is happened while I was setting up the jacks stands and not under it. Took the stands and chucked them in the trash. Since that day I haven't been under anything supported by jackstands. Looking for some with safety pins.

People often overlook safety. I say go for it. Some thin steel cable should do and not look out of place.

Northern tool sells some under the strongway brand.
I'm the same way you are about jackstands and I really like these.

I was always concerned with the front mount breaking free because the welds were horrible on a truck i had 5+ years ago.

So i put some 1/8 aircraft cable with crimp style terminations that is used to suspend light fixtures on it, never broke a bar or mount but it was strong and didn't rust.

I'm gonna use 14" long 4 ply nylon limit straps bolted to the frame with 9/16" grade 8 bolts. If they're strong enough to hold an axle up they better hold a traction bar if I ever manage to break one. LOL

Threw them on today. Used nutserts in the frame since the driver side is blocked by the fuel tank. Other than drilling a 3/4" hole in the frame it was about as simple as it gets. I ordered the 14" Teraflex kit from 4 Wheel Parts since it came with the hardware.

I like how it turned out. The straps are close to the bars but don't touch and being 4 ply I don't see the wind blowing them around too much. They're stiff as hell.
