alright, starting to get things together for my build. the heads on the truck have 270k on them...I know the owner of Headwerks pretty good, and he does amazing work. Said it would be about 1500 bucks to have my heads redone, that is if things arent trashed. so my question is what should i do? I plan on having my truck at about 650hp. have these heads gone through, or buy heads? if i should buy heads, what heads? or if i should go through these heads, what parts to get for them?

Is that 270k on stock truck? If so I'd get new heads...

i believe these heads have 270k on them at least. im not sure because i just bought the truck a year ago, and didnt have any info on that. i suppose i will have to see what they look like when they are off. but i am leaning towards new heads, just not sure.

Still seems high. The new heads you get wont have hardened seats and you will also need to get the new ones checked for flatness.

I bought a new set of head from Clearwater Cylinder Heads and it was $1500.00.
New castings. I had one that was warped pretty bad and the other had cracks.
Couldn't afford new Ford units so I went this route.

Got 4500 miles on the towing in a 550

I spent 3k on my heads oversized valves 2mm over harded seats intake and exhaust ported new valve guides so 1500 doesn't sound to bad to me
