2000 SD, O ring on the dip stick fitting in the oil pan let go.
Sprayed oil all over the bottom of the truck covering the rear end from side to side.
Even though the breaks have the metal shield on them looks like oil could still get on the pads and rotors.

Did I trash the pads and rotors? What should I look for?
Haven't noticed any difference in breaking so far.

They are fine, maybe spray them off with brake clean and re grease the slides and pins if you wanna be safe.

IDK i lost a rear axle seal and contaminated the e brakes and pads on 1 side

they are cheap enough I replaced all the pads to be safe rotors just clean up

but if you don't notice any breaking problems .. I wouldn't sweat it

I sprayed everything down with simple green and then power washed it to get the oil off the axel, houseing, sway bars, shocks, calipers and whatever else I could get at.
I had to drive it about 30 miles to get it home.

So clean the rotors with brake kleen and change the pads to be safe?

Don't have to worry about contaminating the rotors with oil permenently ruining them?

rotors aren't really that porous.. and a cleaner like brake clean will get in there and lift the deposits out

so they are fine with a cleaning ,, the pads will absorb oil ,, but if you feel no ill effects

IDK on yours but I could tell mine were wet with oil .. so they had to go

Thanks guys, I think I'll clean the rotors and replace the pads just for the piece of mind.
Should I stick with OEM pads or aftermarket?
Will do a search also.

Since you are messing with your brake system when is the last time it was completely flushed if ever? Might be a good time to do it why you are at it. As for pads I run EBC yellow and 7000 green pads. The green for lower brake dust and longer life. Yellow has a bit more bite.

I flushed the system when I installed the powerslots and pads on the front, maybe 15k miles ago.

Yea, seems to be no loss of breaking. Still makes me wonder though.
