Help me with turbo sizing

I'm going to be getting turbos next week. I've been having a hell of a time with this decision and appreciate all the help and information I've received so far. My first thought was 66/88 billets until I received the email that I was in the voting for DPC. That made this decision a lot harder. I want a fast spooling setup and in Michigan spinning up 66 is no problem. But introduce altitude and there may be issues. I dunno as I've never been there so that's why I come to you. Thoughts now are 364.5 FMW. A 367.7 FMW was also brought up. Seem like great turbos and the 67.7 flows a lot of air. Question is how will it spool at altitude. I believe both turbine sides were 73 or 74 with a .91 housing. There is still the standard 366 cast as well. Would adding a billet wheel be beneficial? Now the Garretts. I like the idea of ball bearing but the cost gets up there. So far a gt4088, gt4094, and GTX4088r. I would love the GTX but at close to 3 grand I just don't think its doable for me. I don't know sizing with Garretts at all so any reccomendations or insight is great with that. I will be using a s488 billet as a low pressure and will be gating both turbos. I will have spray but I really don't want to rely on that. I'm shooting for 1K HP but realize at altitudes a new game and I'd rather have a well performing truck than a dyno monster. And if I don't get in or after the competition I can always size up as east coast air is awesome LOL. Sorry for the length but what you guys think? Oh a 362 FMW was also mentioned.

Why not get the Elite vgt 62 and remote mount your billet 488... You know the 62 works
as previous high powers did great...

Just a thought...

The weight of the 67.7FMW is actually less than that of a cast 66 wheel. From the turbos I know of that are out their with that wheel on them, they work extremely well. It moves a ton more air than the 66, but doesn't seem to drive any different down low. That being said, the 64.5 paired with a smaller turbine wheel like a 70mm is going to spool quicker, just need more gate to keep the 88 happy. But as you said the 366/488 combo is already tried and tested, why mess with a good thing?

I will not be doing a VGT and if I did it would have to be the 66 and at 3200 I really don't want to mess with it. Don't get me wrong I loved my VGT but from what I have seen they haven't been all that reliable in anything over a 59.
JDub I plan to run that in Michigan but I have my doubts of how well it would do at elevation. I hate laggy trucks so it needs to function well. This is where my dillema comes. What's been doing well at sea level doesn't mean crap in the clouds.

It will be remote mounted. I'm making a custom pedestal/oil drain right now. Housings will all be easy to get to. That's why I asked here. If a 66 works great with a tighter housing at altitude I'm in. I just have never been at elevation to know how anything reacts. Going with a 66 right off the bat would be really nice. Now that's where I started looking at the 67.7. If its spools better than a cast 66 then that would seem like the way to go. We know it flows damn near 15lbs more a minute. Garrett also makes one damn near identical to it and is priced the same. Believe that's the 4094

I'm going to be putting the 367.7 on my Dmax with the smaller 70mm turbine. I live at 4500ft and want the spool, so we'll See how that works.

It will have a 50mm gate to get around the HP. I had thought of going with the bigger 67.7 and seeing how it did here. If it was crappy I can go smaller and expect an improvement. Starting small and going bigger you can't really forsee what's gonna happen.
Wish you had that turbo on now Jdub. I'd really like to hear how it does. That would be the info I'm looking for. Elevation blows lol

I will say we really havent had any failures aside from gates not being properly dialed in as far as the high power and max power vgt's go.

Once again just to put it out there for people who don't truly grasp this. The high pressure turbo only really does good up until the low pressure takes over. So having a larger hp will not make nearly as much a difference. The hp has one job, spool. The big charger is what dictates the overall power. Been proven time and time again you will only make what te atmospheric will flow. An at that point it will make less hp than what the Atmo will make in a single configuration. With proper gating there is absolutely no need to go bigger on the hp. All it will do is make it more laggy.

So really it doesn't matter the lbs per minute in the small differences we are talking. All that matters is spool up.

Small garret ftw.

I would run a 62 but thats just me

sure you might gain a slight amount of power with a 66 or 67 but at some point there is a big trade off

It takes boost to make boost.. remember that

I say go with a 62 gate it then at least a 88 if not bigger gate it and spray it..let the spray get you where you want to be..

or one of the Gtx turbo's as the Hp in about the same size 0,2,4 mm bigger should spool about the same..

I live at 5000... don't let the small high pressure scare you..
