Hey guys. Just picked up my first 6.7. Looking at doing full egr delete, h&s, dpf delete and 5 inch exhaust. That looking good for a start? I had two 6.4s. Anything I should look out for or improve on with the new truck? I know the 6.4s will take a beating just curious about this one. Pull 18000lb fifth wheel about 8 times a year and the rest is traveling for work

Is it a '13 you just got? If so, deletes are 'not allowed' (EPA BS), however having said that, there's a couple guys who have done just that.

One posted here that he did. When he got flamed he posted pics and a video of his '13 deleted as proof.

Getting a Race Tuner instead of the Street Tuner seems to be half the battle. Seems like I saw CFD posting somewhere that they had them in stock.

Personally I like the aFe 5". It's a true 5" stainless from the downpipe back and leaves a lot of room around the rear shock which was a problem with the MBRP cat back I had on originally. Also, I got the one w/ muffler, it's quiet and doesn't drone until you stomp on it, then it roars.

EGR you can do just the block plates or the full delete. Not sure there's a big advantage with the full delete other than your truck will weigh 50lbs less and it's easier to work on w/o all that stuff in the way. H&S is unpainted steel so it'll rust and the Sinister is machined aluminum. Wish I'd done the Sinister.

If I can find the post w/ the deleted '13 I'll link it for you, but a search should find it pretty easily (if it's not over at powerstroke.org which it may be.)

**Edit Here's the link to the deleted '13 on the .org

Only advice I'd give is don't get a muffler. Straight pipe and you won't regret it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes it's a 13. I have heard of a few deleted so far. Had two deleted 6.4s and loved them. But this is a whole different animal. I am a little nervous about deleting at only 2000 miles but I have heard over and over about how that the faster you can get it off the better as far as reliability. This is going to be my everything truck for work, play, towing, and just plain using the truck for what it was meant for. I have heard good things about h&s mini max and spe tunes. And about the muffler or not I haven't decided yet. Had straight pipe before and liked the sound but got a little old when towing on a long trip. Decisions decisions. I guess the main thing I am concerned about is what have y'all experienced with reliability or problems after tuned and deleted. My 6.4s seemed like you could beat on them all day and they wanted more. Just curious if I could rely on this one the same. I know everything is luck of the draw but still opinions and personal experience helps a lot as well

Alright called around today and heard two different things about tuners for the 6.7. Either die hard h&s mini max or die hard spartan. What have y'all seen good and bad with these? Also heard good about SPE as well tuning using the mini max, but sorta scared because I heard the they have seen a lot of trucks come back with turbo failure. Sorta makes me nervous. Everyone else said oh the tuned 6.7 is the most reliable ever and no problems with spartan and h&s. Maybe SPE was the only one being honest with me? I don't know. Seemed like great people. What do you think and use yourself?

The factory turbos kinda suck so sometimes they will go out when tuned do to the higher boost levels that the tuners use. Most tuners have backed down the boost a little to help the turbo live longer. I have heard the spartan tuners have a little bit of a firm shift compared to the H&S. I like how the H&S is shift on the fly so you can run on performance for milage back under a trailer and click a button twice and be on the tow tune. I doubt you will be disappointed with either, but H&S here

ok.. the more fuel you pour, the higher the boost. these turbos do not like boost! while i know nothing about the engines themselves a friend of mine did some pretty severe testing of the 6.7 turbo, and the turbo rpm was almost 200,000 RPM at 35 psi of boost. it doesnt matter if nasa balanced the turbo, at those rpms, the heat and speed will kill them in short order. not sure how much boost you guys are seeing but i think ill be happy at 30-32 max and not beat on it hard until i get a different turbo on, period. and not too mention what the early fueling and tq do to the rods !! a laggier turbo with less fuel down low will help these puny rods to live longer.

Thats when I have my foot to the floor. Which doesn't happen very often. Most of the time I just put around really, but I like to have some fun every once in a while. I haven't had it on a dyno but most guys are making 470-505ish at the tires so I usually tell people about 480 when they ask. I really like the new h&s tuning, it used to be the boost would be at 31psi even at half throttle but now it is much less at half and 3/4 throttle and only at the 31 when at 100% throttle. I do wish the tow tune backed boost off just a little bit. On some good pulls going up hills it will hold 30psi but that is with 15K behind me up hill with cruise control on. Still didn't downshift LOL they just pull so well. EGT's around 950 on those hills. It will get warm quick if you are doing a 1/4 mile empty though. I had to move my defuel up to 1550 because it pegged my 1450 before I got to 80 doing the trans re-learn.

That's with the new h&s tuning? That sounds great to me. I pull 15 to 18000 a good bit so sorta worried about the turbo but that makes me feel better. As long as you could keep it within those levels seems like you would be alright. Pretty much made my kind up about h&s. looks like going with them again. For the next big question is the exhaust. What's sounding good on them. I love a deep sounding truck. Don't really care much for the drone when pulling but love to hear them roar and get attention when you want them to. Always had straight pipes before

5" with a muffler, deep with no drone. I haven't ridden in one towing with a straight pipe to compare it to though either
