Found this truck on the nation 94.5 F-250 7.3. 265k with a ZF5. Guy took a pretty good video, just wondering what people with more knowledge think of it. It has some blowby which is expected, just not sure if it's excessive. Looking to pick this up for a good work/plow/just about everything truck

Truck looks pretty clean overall. Things you can expect to do on those year trucks and for the miles.

Ball joints, pack bearings, brakes, possibly rear spring hangers, most of those trucks that have spent ANY time in the NE will have some rust on radiator support, cab corners, and some over the bed.

That blowby was minimal. If he has no service records on the injectors, I would plan to do GPs and O-rings. With the miles all fluids should be changed front to rear.

In a nutshell, whatever the price of the truck is, I would set aside 2-3K more just to do normal maintenance for a truck of the age and mileage to make it more reliable. After you do that though you should be able to run for another 100k without issue.

See that's stuff I like to hear. All minor stuff that needs done. As for rust he states there is none, also just did o rings on the injectors. He drives it everyday, so I'm sure its at least fairly maintained. I'm guessing just by looking these are much easier to work on then my old 6.0 and 6.4?

Imo, 6.0's and 7.3's (obs or super duty) are about the same to work on. But ive worked on hundreds upon hundreds, so maybe im biased lol. And i definitely wouldnt pass it up. I found a super clean ccsb obs, with like 200k on it not long ago and the guy only asked 5100 for it, but didnt have the money at the time. Im still pissed about that.

The F250 with the TTB does not make a good plow truck due to the Dana 50 not to mention the ZF5 since most plow operators prefer a automatic. Now if you can find a Dana 60 to swap into it......

I actually prefer the zf to plow with. If I was doing it commercially maybe a different story.

Ask to see if the orings used were oem? IMO if you haven't worked on a lot of 6.0s the 7.3 is for sure easier to start with.

That stupid front axle and manual trans make it a no go for plowing IMO. Nice truck though.

I like the OBS trucks, but am passing them by now that SD pickups are getting cheaper.

By the time I setup an OBS the way I want, the OBS costs me more in the end for a noisier truck than a SD.

Yea the ttb would go as soon as I could find one. Suspension work doesn't bother me. As far as the zf I used to plow with a obs 350 mason dump and preferred it over the 350 auto we had. Looks like I'm gonna have to jump on this one
