Hey all. I got around to getting my HID's installed today. the headlights seem to work just fine, the installation was a cinch.

When I got to the fog lights, they didnt seem to want to work. I checked all connections, then they finally worked. I shut the switch off, then turned them back on, I got nothing. Ive been fiddling with them off and on, and havent come up with anything. I put the old bulbs back into the stock positions, now they dont work.

These things irritate the piss out of me... I hope the wiring for my lights didnt burn up. All fuses are in tact and in good shape as well. Grounds look too.

Could you have accidentally unplugged the factory fog light harness under the intake? I know mine was unplugged when I got my truck. Would explain why neither work. Check for power to the fogs that you were using for the trigger and follow it back. Also check your factory fuse for them if thats not it. Mught have had something backwards and blown it.

Everything is connected. I will have grab my fluke meter from work, and make sure im getting power to the plugs. Depending on the voltage, this should tell me if my grounds are good as well.

These kits are pretty simple the way they plug and play, so i dont think ive got anything crossed.

Update: i metered everything, and im getting voltage to the relay. Thats it. I pulled relay, and jumped the circuit. Lights came on now issues. I replaced the relay, no luck. Im wondering if my switch is no good? Which, i cant seem to get out. also emailed retro solutions for help troubleshooting.

Is the key in the "ON" position when you are testing them?

I have NO IDEA why, but the fog lights on my truck will ONLY come on with the key in the "ON" position.

As me how I found this out... :lookaround:

How did you find out? Heheh

I tried them with truck running, key on and no key at all. Im thinking about running a hot wire to the relay through one of my aux switches. Screw it.

Firstly, lights are not part of the engine so this thread is in the wrong section.

Now, have you made certain the new circuit is grounded properly? Hot wire each ballast with a solid ground connection and taking power directly from the battery. If each lamp works that way, then you need to back track the wiring.

I have done such, and have determined that the circuit is not being closed through the relay, which tells me that it doesnt know the fog light switch has been pulled out. When I run power directly through the relay, the lights work fine. When i install the relay back again, I dont get power to the light at all. 12v drop off after the relay.

thanks for letting me know this was in the wrong section. :clapping: If it erks a mod for it to be here, please move it by all means. Otherwise, I posted here because these are "aftermarket" lights, and i would get more exposure in this part of the forum.

No I checked that as well. Ive been through every avenue, and I keep coming back to the damn switch in the cab. I havent worked on it for a couple of days, just been busy. This issue will probably have to wait until I get back home from work in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the reference, I will post in the other section if it will help.

I have been emailing retro support back and forth, and they seem to think the relay harness is faulty. Im waiting on a response to see what action they want to take, or what else they want me to check.
