High Idle?

Found out my truck has high idle, With not a damn clue how it works.

All I have been able to find is a white wire on the accelerator has been cut, soldered and another piece added in. I know that it is temperature based and I have zero control on when it engages and disengages.

As for the temp portion I do not know if it is based on ambient air, coolant, trans temp or a combination of them. start the truck idles a minute or two then will kick in once the idle has smoothed out some. I could be at a long stop light or getting fuel it will randomly engage until it is at temp for a undetermined amount of time.

I am familiar with the 6.0 style with a switch added in to control it and ones added to the pcm with a knob to control it. I cannot find any info whatsoever and if I need to remove it before I chip the truck and put a new idm in.

Sounds completely normal.

I'm willing to bet the manuals don't do it in case it sticks, (WAG) but as far as the autos, it's completely normal. I can't remember exactly what the parameters are, (oil/air temps) but when it hits them, the 1000k high idle after a minute or so is normal. (Until brake is hit or temp is met.)

I will say, I use a 1500rpm high idle on my hydra....really helps warm it up quicker! Way better than the stock EBPV was!

haha i need to get rid of my ebpv if I do not let my truck idle for at least 10-15 mins the ebpv just starts sticking when I am driving if I do not. Since it has been below every morning it just sticks at a lot more on my way to classes every morning and then it surges a lot also now. How are you liking the hydra over the ts you had?

I love it for the simple fact that I can burn the tunes, and don't have to pull/mail the damn thing. I just park close to the house, (Or in the garage) sit in the truck with the laptop, plug it in, and add/delete whatever tunes I want.

Thanks, It just gets annoying some days when it is below +15* F out it is constant stop lights or at the the fuel pump. I hope I can get my hydra soon so I have a little more choice when it operates.
