Hey guys, mainly just posting this for "search" reasons.

Some of you know i WAS going to build my truck, but i bought a ski boat instead. Lol. So i have been off to fix the quarks i have gathered in 85,000 miles of driving.

I was having hard start issues, and even a couple of no start issues. Nothing major until two nights ago. I parked the boat, and went to move the truck (stock tuning), and she wouldnt fire. Turned over fine. I reloaded my SRL and hercules. Still no fire or CEL.

Finally got frustrated enough and said eff it. If i burn it up, oh well. So i cranked it for about ten seconds and saw my oil psi bump. After a few more seconds, it rolled into firing up. Since the. I have had no start issues, and actually left the truck running for almost eight hours while running errands. I called my friend over this afternoon who used to be a tech at the local ford dealership. He brought over his laptop, and quickly diagnosed the issue after pressure testing the oil system. Looks like i have a high psi oil leak "probably" coming from my dummy plugs and stand pipe on the left bank.

So....

He quoted me $200 for labor to replace both banks if i buy parts. Thought i would let you guys know.

That's an easy fix. If you're the least bit mechanically inclined you can do it yourself.

It may also be a injector o ring leaking. Best way is to pull the valve cover and pressure test it to pin point the leak.
It can be stand pipe or dummy plug
Injector o ring
And oil nipple o ring.

There is no true way to know what the issue really is until we pull it apart. Im going to pay my mechanic because he knows these six ohs extremely well, and if there is another issue, he will spot it as well as search out other issues.

Right now, i just dont have the time to spare. I tend to be waaay too anal about my truck. It will take me sixteen days to do this job. Lol

Well, the oil leak left me stranded tonight at the local target. So looks like i will be pulling the valve covers off tomorrow afternoon. Not what i wanted to be doing on my friday, but has to be done. Hope the local dealership has the updated parts in stock. Have my fingers crossed.

That sucks. My o ring leak left me in northern Cali. Had to ether the truck to get it started. Never shut it off for the rest of the trip to Vegas.

Good luck with your fix it list. May it be short and easy.

Thats what i ended up doing. There was an auto zone about a half a mile down the road. So me and my flip flops got to walkin to score some ether.

Im just hoping the dealership has the parts tomorrow.

Did any of you guys see a performance drop and fuel mileage drop with a HPO leak?

I never noticed a drop at all. Just no start when hot. Then when warm and eventually when cold. I waited to fix it so I could do a few other things while I was in there. It started fine before work and after work. But it got bad and left me at work.

Mine was. Injector o rings (3 of them) eroded after 12000 miles. I was waiting to do the HPOP at the same time.

It all got fixed with very little money out of my pocket after I called the shop. I paid for the HPOP and half the labor.

Everything checked out just fine. Except these.

Got it all together after making an emergency run to the dealership for a new gasket. Took it for a ride out the driveway, and blew a boot twice. I parked it, and went inside. Im fixing to tackle it right now, and try to get everything buttoned up tight, get it down the road.
