Looking for any info on a power steering pump swap. I've been through two pumps and three gear boxes already. Going to do crossover steering but want a good heavy duty pump to help turn the 37s. Also I don't have hydroboost. Read about people doing a swap using the 6.0 pump but haven't found anything detailing the swap.

Thanks for the info. Anyone have a part number for a Saginaw pump that would work? The thread posted above says that the pump that he used is discontinued. Also if anyone knows if I would use the same pulley and belt.

Got4wd is the one who did the Saginaw and had problems with the pump shaft breaking. Since he had done the hydroboost conversion, loss of steering AND brakes is tough on the shorts.

He now has figured out a pump swap using van parts and, except for hoses, is a bolt in deal. You have to find the pump pulley in a wrecking yard since its a discontinued part. The rest is not too difficult to find new. 7.3 Van bracket has AC compressor on drivers side and uses 6.0 style PS pump instead of OBS style PS pump.

98-2003 7.3 van

Power steering/AC bracket (Can find on Ebay)
early 6.0 SD power steering pump or 98-03 van 7.3 pump
PS Fluid reservior and bracket (can find on Ebay)
Made up hoses
Discontinued van PS Pulley (wrecking yard)

Good luck with that. I wouldn't trust that set up with the stock obs bracket. It won't hold up.

They use an AGR pump I think. I was going to buy one but they have a lot of bad reviews.

Found them on different forums when I was trying to decide what kit to go with if I bought one. Was going to go hydraulic assist. Most were saying the pump was failing. I'll see if I can dig them up again. I decided to go crossover steering instead and do the same pump swap as Got4wd.
