hop with traction bars...

ok i would like to bounce this off everyone.

i built a set of long bars for a friend of mine. i didnt get time to install them,so he had another guy throw them on.(2" dom,7/8 heims,brackets from ballistic fab.) he contacted me a couple days ago,stating he had hop. once he removed the bars the hop went away. i havent personally gone over the rear of this truck yet,im just looking for reasons why with bars a truck would hop?

shocks,springs? bars arent adjusted correctly?

watcha all think?

That means very little in the grand scheme - I'm more concerned about mounting points, springs in use, block heights, etc....

I had 62" bars on my CCSB and no hop.

Being a dodge those measurements could be way off.

There are a number of elements when designing traction bars. Solid mounts on both ends will not result in anything good.

heims on bolth ends. he brought the truck down,what i found was,it wasnt the bars at all. it was a 700hp truck with 100,000 thousand miles,with worn rear shock. we put the bars back on,then he pulled a hole shot. you could the the rear dribbling up and down. when he pulled the bars off(when the hop went away) it would allow the rear to move around sucking up the lateral movement.

he also had airbags that were aiding in this issue. just needs new shocks!
