I was washing my truck today and decided to do a quick check on my fluids. With a clean truck and the hood open I could really tell how dirty it is under there. How do you guys clean your engine bay? What do you use? I don't want to cause damage to anything like the belt.

Take a shower.

Oh the truck? I don't, it's a truck. I haven't washed it in years. God provides rain.

I wrap my alternator and most electrical boxes in plastic bags before I wash an engine.

I use Mr Clean or Simple Green and a pressure washer. Then start the motor and let it get hot as soon as I'm done to get the water out of any places it shouldn't be in. Then when its dry and cooled off, I spray the whole thing with Surf City Garage tire dressing.

I just take it to the car wash and put it on the tire cleaner or degreaser setting and go over everything till it shuts off. Then put it on the rinse cycle and spray it again till it shuts off. Most all the time I do this with the engine running. Then take it down the road for 5 or 10 minutes to get everything dry and then spray over everything in the engine bay with WD-40. Makes everything shine and removes any remaining water deposits and makes it easier to clean next time.

Simple green and a steam cleaner. Looks like it rolled off the factory floor. I wash mine once a week before I wash my trucks exterior. I even wash my frame and undercarriage using the same method.

Th engine and under carriage gets a bath every time I wash the truck. Never had a problem with any of my vehicles doing this.
