What is the farthest they have been pushed without failure? I have a 2003 6spd EGR delete with 175/75, MTW hybrid, RR, Matt's tunes I run only the SLR tune and a FICM tuneby PHP. Been running this setup for about 20k towing and lots of hyw with no issues and those are hard miles. I will be installing 225's and a stage 4 soon and studs cause I'm not completely crazy. But it would be nice to see how far I could push them stock bolts.

Seeing as they fail on stock trucks all the time... I would say I wouldn't go much past stock before I studded a truck. When I had my studs/injectors done I had the heads checked and new gaskets put in. I had no signs of a blown head gasket but mine were blown, not bad but they were blown none the less.

I have seen plenty fail on stock trucks. Its just been one of those deals where I haven't studded this one yet and its holding strong. I will have it on the dyno tomorrow so I will see what it is putting down, before the new injectors, turbo and studs lol.

I also wonder about this. I would like to do turbo/injectors, but then I would feel obligated to pull the heads, get those gone through, then studs and gaskets. kind of a lot of cashola right there.

I have put down close to 600 hp about 12,000 miles and have 10 dyno pulls and numerous track passes all on stock head bolts.
This was with 205/100s & a 68mm pmax.
I also wanted to see how far I could push it, and the funny thing is the head bolts have held but the trans went first.

I would not even 2nd guess myself if I was buying one or hopping it up. Studs would be the first item on my list, along with an EGR delete. LOL

I'm stock head studs and have confidence in them. Been running it kinda hard here and there. A few rice burner races and srt8 races. All eating smoke of course. Bullydog tunes on extreme egr deleted 5" exhaust system just installed bullet proof oil cooler 58volt ficm 35" toyo MTs winter tires. Runs great and never had an issue with any kinda concerns.

140k and a great truck.

Trucks been tuned for the last 50k+ and run pretty good. Not really beat on much, but definitely used. Numerous runs to 115mph+. Has close to 205k on it now, stock headbolts and all. Factory EGR and bolts FTW LOL Been slowly using coolant lately though, and mildly puking so it is probably on it's last legs.

Edit: My dad owned it before me and he's the type to not modify it much, hence the factory EGR. It is on the 3rd or 4th one LOL

Truck has 141000 miles, installed extreme street at 103000 mile mark, industrial injection stage 1 turbo and extreme x tune at 127000 miles. I've had a blown oil cooler, high pressure oil leak. No issues since the turbo install. Studs are setting in my room though.

Imelmo, are you saying retorque like the dodge boys do? Ive wondered about that. The one write up I saw even used flat washers with a light oil on them so that they didnt bind on the head, making sure that you are getting the full torque.... makes sense to me. We just need a guinea pig...
