A friend of mine has asked that I install a Husky 5th wheel in his '99 4x4 Shortbed.

All the parts are there from the parts list. Just curious how much work. Does the tank have to be dropped, etc, etc.

If your setup has the no-drill custom frame brackets it isn't bad. I got them for a used Reese slider hitch I bought on CL.

depending on trailer hes gonna need a slider hitch to make any kind of tight corner.

Easy as Pie. I installed mine with drilling 8 holes in less then an hr. A good sharp 1/2 drill makes all the difference in the world.

Also I'm not sure if my 5th wheel is speical or set back more then others but with my short box I would have to complete jack knife it to hit my cab corners.

Here is a picture of my rig.

Putting a 5th wheel in mine is a piece of cake..... of course i have the B&W set up with the companion hitch. In my opinion its the best of both worlds and the only way to go.

Whats a companion hitch?

http://www.turnoverball.com/products/gooseneck-hitch/companion-5th-wheel-hitch

Its a gooseneck hitch frame with a 5th wheel adaptor(kinda hard to describe that briefly)

check the link. It's the 5th wheel hitch that you use with a B&W gooseneck hitch. Great product. Has adjust-ability for height and position in the bed for lifted/stock, short bed/long bed. And it only takes one person to load it and install it when needed. And when not in use, just take it out and you don't have any kind of rails in the way like a lot of 5th wheel hitches.
