how long will the stock trans last?

With different power levels? What's usually the point that you should expecting trans issues? I know you can have problems stock if you are abusive.

I just put my s366 and 205/100s in and I'm going to move up again later after the trans is built.

Anything I am going to need for sure with the setup I'm running now or is it hit an miss?

Was thinking piecing clutches/ input shaft and maybe a converter together and putting that in and adding more later. Anything else right away? Not enough cash flow to buy a built unit.

Your truck is gonna hate you with 205s
Stock injectors I had no trans issues
175s and after 3 track days my trans started acting up. Slipping while taking off from a stop light.
Now with the 205s it's hating life and slips every gear. Hope this helps

I'm not taking the truck to the track at all until I at least have new clutches in it.

In fact, its only seen 2 passes at the drag strip since I bought it Almost 3 years ago. Its a street toy.

As long as you drive it smart until you get the trans hooked up you should be okay... I had the same concern recently.

Tuning is the key to making that tranny last find a good tuner and have him tune the tranny for your setup, it will make a world of difference and that 5r will thank you.

Mine sh*t the bed on stock injectors and around 60,000 miles on it. I wasn't easy on it.

My stock rebuilt trans held up for 6 years/40k miles getting absolutely beat to hell with 225/100 sticks and an s366 on an email tune from Eric. Although I will admit, it sucks just driving around knowing at any minute your trans is gonna take a crap lol.. Mine let go with no warning at all under moderate acceleration, had to get towed home.

I've been running 300/100's and an s366 and mine is perfect, i have been driving normal on it, but recently I have been seeing if she skips any beats, being as I made a nice purchase and it's on it's way lol

Believe it or not, its really clean, for my daily tune fuel is pulled, and on my full fuel tune its not bad at all, my 185's were smokey as hell, this setup is great and my mpg went from 10.5 to 15,16mpg so im happy lol gearhead nailed it with the tunes

I have full force 190/100 with a MTW stage 3 pushing air and my trans hated me... also hated NLDT tunes but loved gearhead. .. that was with a BTS converter... I had to call it quits before I move to Guam because I could only imagine what that setup would have done over two years... she's got a fresh BTS in her now...
