in stock form? depends on the tuning but with gearheads race file they usually last a while at 550-560hp

as always, how you drive the truck will dictate a lot. 4x4 launches, heavy towing on a big tune etc.. will always shorten the life of the trans.

as soon as i went larger than stock turbos, it didnt last long...

i would base the overall 5r capacity on speed, like stated in stock form they can handle 550
built they can handle 850-900 pretty regularly, anything faster than the 11.5 range and your kinda asking for problems shifting ect. high 10s are do able but it wont be super reliable

I had gear head tunes on my second trans and put it through hell and it held. I ran the race I believe it was at all times no matter what I was towing.

Mine was good at 540rwhp for 40k miles, quite a few 1/4 mile passes and street races. What will hurt the trans from what I've read are the downshifts. Lots of 5R110 builders will say they are real tough on the trans. Mine finally gave up the ghost (clutches) on a 3-1 downshift. Even though I got a flare in every gear at cruising speed, the truck would still 4wd launch and go through the gears at WOT just fine.
