Sooo... I did something really smart when I re-installed my HPOP a few weeks ago. And by "smart", what I really mean is... Completely retarded. :morons:
I didn't see any warnings about making sure the HPOP drive gear was lined up correctly before re-installation... AND I didn't torque the drive gear bolt down correctly.
No start. :fustrate:
I finally decided that MAYBE the drive gear bolt was an issue, but then I couldn't get it out. I took the fuel bowl and oil reservoir off to try and get a better look at what was going on. When I started spinning it counter-clockwise, it would spin free... It was spinning the pump, free of the drive gear. (You can see this in the video below.)

With the help of a friend, I DID finally get it out. But by the time I realized my mistake, I had already caused significant damage to the gear.

There were a few small metal shavings stuck to the gear, which I just wiped off. I also wiped off a tiny bit of the same stuff off of the HPOP shaft. The shaft itself does not appear to be damaged.
So... Two things.
First of all, if you're a newbie like me:
:badidea: PAY ATTENTION, AND DON'T DO WHAT I DID!!!
And second, if you're smarter than I am (it's not hard :thumbsup
:
-> Can I just clean this thing up (de-bur it) and re-install? Or do I need to buy a new one??? Also, what are the chances of real engine damage here, because of the shavings? I cleaned all the ones I could find... will any leftovers get caught by the oil filter and/or HPOP oil reservoir screen?
Thank you all... :bowfast:
