Long story short, somebody tried cutting a lifted 8,000lb truck off @ the toolbooth one day, their car met my side-step. Now my pass side sidestep is bent backwards. How can I unbend that? I've been thinking of tying to a tree and inching forwards.. is there a less ghetto way? Or is my sidestep probably junk?

Ah good thinking. So you dont think thats a half-bad idea to try then? Cuz it looks half retarded with it being bent the way it is.

Its a bolt on single step, with two (relatively large...) Steel mounts bolting to the frame.

Actually its bolted to the bottom of the cab. I also think you have a malfunctioning step as they are supposed to automatically bend back to their original position when they detect bendage from collision, just like auto hubs detect slippage to engage

Stroker2- LMFAO!!!! Yes def agree if its bolted to the actual cab then just buy anouther set of steps and check to make sure the cab itself didn't get bent up...

Hook a chain around your step, then hook it to another truck, and make sure there is about 10-15' of slack in the chain. Finally, get in the other truck and hold the pedal to the floor. Step fixed

if it is bolted to the cab that'll mess everything up. prolly bend way to much and not let door close properly.. when it comes to body work, slow and steady is the best way. or buy new, lol

Ok, yea a come-a-long and maybe a lil heat and it should bend back for you

Good thinking, thanks man.

buy another set of steps...

But thats money that I could put elsewhere. If it came down to that, I'd just remove the steps and let my passengers taking a running jump to get in.

Its not, its bolted to the frame.

agreed-- Im not understanding the damage. Is it a big cast step like a bully or the long sheetmetal platform step?

So basically the step is aluminum diamond-plating, about 1.5ft long, with two fairly thick arms both going under the truck and mounting to the frame. When the person tried cutting me off @ the toll-booths, my side step acted as a bumper and they sideswiped directly into it. So the step is now about 2" from the bottom of the door-sill (as opposed to 4" or so on the drivers side) and the step is pushed towards the front tire. So the sidestep is crunched upwards and towards the front tire now from the asshole trying to cut me off and hitting my step.

Are you sure the step is tweeked? It's possible that the accident bent the truck and the step is actually straight, but gives the illusion of being bent.
