HOW TO FIND A LEAKING INJECTOR?

truck is a 2008
dpf/cat delete
egr/cooler delete
was running Spartan 210 late lock

I REPLACED MY HPFP, LIFT PUMP, 1 INJECTOR, 4 NEW FUEL LINES ON DRIVERSIDE. Truck drove good for 2 weeks, until Friday when it barfed white smoke and heard what sounded like injector knock from the driver side. pulled codes and all that shows up is P0087.Turned the truck ofF and towed it home. Truck wont even start now after getting it home. I find it hard to believe my hpfp took a **** that fast. I got it from Rudys diesel. Anyone heard of pumps taking a dump this quick? I think I might have an injector hung open and I cant build sufficient pressure. Im only getting 1700 psi while cranking it over. Is there a way to find a leaking injector both internally and externally? I asked this question over on another forum and got nothing. Just tryin to see if anyone has any ideas.

Mine just did the same thing

Check the level of oil

My truck had a few extra gallons of oil, blew the seal out on the high pressure fuel pump and filled the crankcase full of fuel and hydrolocked it from the bottom.

I was able to take the drain plug out, turn the key on without starting it and watch fuel run out of the oil pan..

if you can get a hold of a good scanner you maybe able to pull live data on the injectors and see what's going on with the injectors. Auto Enginuity etc. Aside from pulling them.

Oil level looks good, I wish I could isolate the isuue to the fuel pump or an injector.

if you can get a hold of a good scanner you maybe able to pull live data on the injectors and see what's going on with the injectors. Auto Enginuity etc. Aside from pulling them.

I bought AE Friday and will be here tomorrow. Can I get live data without the engine running? If so, what checks should I run first? Its weird I am only getting a P0087 code with no contribution codes or misfires.

Sorry I re-read your post. probably don't want to fire the truck up again. I'd pull the DTC's again with the AE...sometimes scanners can be pissy and not pull all codes. Worth a shot. What injector did you replace? Maybe pull the valve cover and check all your connectors and harness.

got another code last night p2291 (low fuel pressure at injector while cranking) and the p0087 code doesn't show up anymore. Strange. What tests or things to look at first would you guys recommend with the AE software.
