HP turbo Variable Vane leak uppipe exhaust leak

Anyone experience this?

I have a loss in boost pressure w/ a slight raise in EGTS. I pressure tested the system and used some soap and found a leak at the point were the VVT actuator goes into the HP exhaust housing.

The up-pipe to HP housing was leaking as well.

Warranty is covering the work but the tech can't get the leaks to stop. He put on a reman HP turbo and it still leaks in the same place, PLUS the up-pipe / HP exhaust flange still leaks as well.

The tech tryed to bump the upipe flange bolt to 26lbs but it snapped the head of the bolt off.

Anyone got ideas??

Here is where the other leak is. Overall the truck has been solid until now.

Uppipe flanges are probably warped.

There is no seal around that shaft its probably going to leak no matter what.

Thanks for the idea. Wouldn't have figured that was the case with the uppipes but it would make sense.

On the HP turbo, the Ford manual said to replace, but again good to know.

I doubt the leak in the high pressure turbo is enough to cause an issue. Get the up pipes to seal and go from there. I'm sure they are warped. The gaskets ford uses are really good so for brand new ones not to seal I'm sure the flange is ***ed

I suppose that says it all. I hate living in the sticks for that reason alone. Even in a 150 mile radius, I wouldn't take my truck anywhere....

Thanks Dustin
