well, when my truck is warm...it wont go any higher than little over 1500psi when tuned. However when stock programmed....it'll hit over 3600psi. Talked to Eric about it and he said it's because of the tuning. I've tried a few different HPOP gauges to see if it's a gauge thing and all three gauges had the same results. There has been a bunch of guys that have experienced the same as me, but there are also alot of guys where tuning doesn't effect their HPOP reading.

The tuning does, but can't you just hook the gauge up differently to get an actual reading from the high pressure oil pump, regardless of tunes? I'm pretty sure that's how most guys are hooking them up... via a voltage reading off of the ICP or something?

well that's how the HPOP gauges work...they go off the voltage reading from the ICP and it converts it into a PSI readout that you see. My Dakota Digital, the autometer and the Isspro gauges that i've tried use ICP voltage to calculate the HPOP gauge readout into psi.

You can tap wires on the icp sensor to read icp voltage, should be .2-.3 koeo, .5 when cranking to fire. .5=500 iirc. I also have a mechanical gauge setup for sale that threads right into the icp port while the sensor is unplugged.

no you do not need to remove the valve cover to remove the sensor. Just unplug it and use whatever size socket that fits over it and unscrew it.

At least on my truck I recall some kind of a "boot" that covered the sensor. It stopped oil from splashing out from under the valve cover. Then again, this was a couple of years ago.
