my buddy brought over his $6000 dollar MacTools Scanner, it pulled

P1275- cylinder 5 High to Low side open

P0603

P1316

it also brought up, Cylinder 3 & 8 contribution or balance malfuction
what does this mean^^^^^??

what do the codes mean and what can cause it

the reason i had him scan my truck was becuase i was headed off base and had to go up the pass which is pretty steep, i was 5th gear (manuel Trans) running a steady 2000rpm's. when suddenly the truck jerked hard, i noticed the rpm's dropped down between 1500-1750. i was easy on the throttle till i got to the top, then it ran fine. then a few days later i was on the interstate 5 gear, 2000rpm's. my buddy came up beside me in his duramax, and of coarse we both floored it, i was running 2300-2500rpm's for about 3-5min. then out of no where the truck did the violent jerk 6 times in a row, the rpm's would drop 250rpm's every time it did it. What could cause this. Ive noticed that the check engine light comes on when i lay the pedal to the floor, no matter what gear im in. my buddy said it could be a fuel pump issue. What Do you guys think?

ive just recently got the truck, never owned a diesel before but have been around cummins and duramaxs my whole life

truck info: 2001 f250, 7.3 powerstroke, 6 speed manuel, K&N air filter, Banks Chip that plugs into the CPU (Removed since problems started)

Recent fixes: changed oil, changed fuel filter, changed the TPS and CPS

i would look at your connections where they plug into the valve cover harness. those tend to get burnt and have to be replaced every so often. I would really look there. could be just a chafed wire coming from your idm to your engine harness as well.

The cylinder #3 and #8 contribution codes were probably thrown when a KOER test was performed. They are most likely ghost codes if you have the Ford gray CPS. No real need to worry about them.

The P1316 means that IDM codes were detected. Did he run a buzz test on the injectors? And if so, is that when it picked up a P1275?

As stated above, check the wiring coming to and from the VC harness' and the IDM.

:whs:

I would suspect the UVCH if the injectors pass the buzz test. (1316)

Was it running like it was missing on any of the cylinders? A bank?

By chance where your windshield wipers on when this happened?

where did you acquire the replacement CPS mentioned in the original post?
