Has anyone ever ran ice water to the stock air to water for drag racing or pulling. Plumbing can't be terribly hard.

That is a great question!

I know there is a temp sensor and you will likely get a CEL but someone has to be taking a look at doing this.

we have thought about making a pump setup using the factory def tank , but it is a good bit tricky.

I'm thing more a battery deIete and put it in place of the air to water... lots of space right there. 1 battery sufficient for drag racing.

I would move the overflow tank.. batteries to the bed before I lengthened the piping to a ice chest in the back.

Maybe utilize the factory air to water cooler and pump ice water through it and leave everything in place?????

Actually you could run a huge ice cooler setup in the bed with a pump frigid water from that source strait to the air to water factory cooler with 2 simple 3 way valves for normal driving with coolant or coolant cooled through a chiller in the back.

Get my drift..

This was my thought. A tool box with an ice chest and quick connect hoses for the few times I want it

I would run a copper coil tube setup in a custom diy insulated box chilling antifreeze and sending it back through the Air2water cooler.

If you were creative with insulated SS swagelock tubing you could actually use the factory secondary water pump to save on parasitic drag from an electric water pump.

I wonder how hard it would be to run a rear air setup from an excursion but instead of an evaporator run a coil through a tank.

I was thinking the same but the problem is it definitely won't keep up and the draw of HP to do that would be rather large and defeating. Still a good idea tho!

Chill the water while staging and kill the ac before you leave the line. Could probably even use a wot switch to kill the compressor and if you used a different fluid you could get the system much colder then with an ice chest.

In any factory AC system the compressor would automatically disengage under a WOT situation anyway, programmed in the PCM to do so. But I do remember a friend of mine having an intercooler of sorts that ran off the AC system for a screw type blower he had on a Ford modular engine for his maurader. Can't recall who made it but I could ask. A lot more air to cool for a diesel though.
I don't know how well an ice setup would work for a drag racing setup but I don't think the factory cooler would be efficient enough for a pulling truck that would be serious enough to run an icebox. Would also be adding a lot of weight for an icebox for a drag setup.

Issues with running the ac at the track though. Condensation dripping on the starting line make for a bad time. Friday night test and tunes out here have to constantly remind people to shut ghe ac off.
