Is anyone currently running an Icon 4" lift kit on their 99-04 SD? I'm curious as to whether the front springs would ride better due to the progressive rate springs. They have 12 leafs to each spring pack, whereas a typical front leaf pack has somewhere around 4-5 leafs. I'm thinking this would help soften the ride quite a bit

I am running the Icon 4in lift on my Platinum, it ride much smoother than the rough country leveling kit and stock springs did.

Thanks for the input CW. I am currently running the rough country 2.5" leveling springs and the ride is okay, but not that great. I would like to go up to 4" but don't want the truck to ride like a tank. So that helps alot

Anyone else had experience with this lift?

I run the 4" leafs, but I have mine mounted to 3" hangers/shackles. I have been running them for so long I don't remember what stock or add-a-leaf was like, but when I switched over I was impressed with the improvement. Proper shocks will also determine the ride quality. Don't expect a ride similar to a luxury sedan, they will still be truck like.

Yeah I know it's not ever going to be luxury, especially with the leaf sprung front end. But if I am going to move up to a 4" and the icon makes a difference in ride quality I would rather pay the extra money to gain that little bit extra.

I just put Bilstien 5100 series shocks all the way around and that made a world of difference

I can tell you that I'm not real impressed with my 6in icon springs. I went from 4in procomps to these 6in icns and the ride got noticeablely rougher. I am curious also if the 4in icons would be a noticeable differance over the 4in procomps I had which I thought rode great. I've thought a lot of gong to a 4in spring and 2in hanger for a better ride.

I haven't been in a truck with 6" Icon springs, but all reports say they are firmer than the 4". As the height goes up, so does the firmness.

They will clear but will rub. I had to trim my front bottom bumper metal part and I have dented up both bottoms of my fenders with the 6in.

I havent been in one either, but it only makes sense to me that the higher you go the worse it gets. Well in the leaf spring world anyway. But I could be wrong...who knows.

FYI..35" will clear 35" on a 99-04 if it has V code fronts..
Stock V codes with a hanger kit will ride better than any aftermarket lift spring.
True the more arch a lift spring has+ lift the stiffer it will ride

Thanks for the info. I am currently running 35" with my leveling kit. Just feel like they look stuffed in there. I think its the appearance of the 4" and 35" tire combination that I like.

If you like the ride quality of your springs we have 2" and 3" hanger kits, or if you still have the stock V codes a 4.5" hanger kit..PM me if I can help
