Ive been running down a power problem with my rig & have it almost fixed but still running a bit sluggish.Im new to diesels & read to unplug icp to see if itll smooth it out.Well when I Unplug it looses about all power & white smoke comes out of exhaust when I hit the throttle. So whats going on?I need to swap it out as there is oil in there. But with these issues with it unplugged is there other issues it's hinting to?Thanks in advance.

if it isn't running the right way now, a tuner isnt going to fix it.

did you unplug the icp sensor while it was idling?

Sorry that did not come out right. What I meant was there is no tuner on the truck.I belive it is all stock.A guy down the road suggested I check the truck to make sure it dosnt have some sort of aftermarket chip.As he said he bought the same yr truck & someone had installed what he called a gold chip but the rest of his truck was stock. He said the dealership found it after he couldnt get it to run right. And yes I pulled it while it was @ idle does that make a diffrence? Is the smoke normal?

When disconnecting the ICP connector at idle, it should default to 750psi instead of 480-520psi like it should be with the connector attached. You should notice a change in idle sound, but white smoke is not normal. I would get a scan tool on there to watch ICP and see what it is doing. Also check for any codes that may be present.

If there was a change in sound, then the ICP sensor was operational.

Go check to see if the white smoke burns your eyes. If so, it is raw fuel.

Does is smoke white only when cold, or at all temperatures?
