Ideas for a built E40D

In the process of starting a build on my 97 7.3 and before I start throwing power to it I know Im going to be needing a built tranny. As of right now I got a rebuild stock one that is only a matter of time before she goes. Its sliping bad and sticking in gears....POS basically!
My goal is 400hp and just want a tranny that will last and hold up when I tow, and it is my daily driver as well. Would be great to hear some suggestions. I really would like to have the BTS but again.....$$$$ talks. Anything helps guys appriciate the info and help.

Toss the POS and put in a ZF-5 is what I did....mind you I live way too far from BTS or John Woods, and had a spare ZF-5 and a buddy to fully R&R it... The only thing I miss about my E4OD is not loosing boost on full throttle runs. I do like the 2 MPG gallon increase (now with ZF) and of course shifting with a short shifter mod kinda makes up for it.

Having driven both I think a BTS or J Woods or perhaps RacerX would be really nice but I just got tired of riding the edge of the seat wondering if you're gonna make it or if it's running too hot or went you'll have to muck with it again.

You could go with a Ford Factory Heavy Duty rebuild, put a better TC on it and a valve body from BTS (valve body is what makes it shift better for less wear on other pieces).

Will hold 400hp but wouldnt want to push it to 500, has a great warranty as well. Probably be into it $3500 at the most when all said and done

Ive thought about that....and is still a great possibility! Only reason I want the bts is becasue it has a great rep, and I have a buddy running one and loves it. Also like you said though what if.......and Im aways away as well. Not nearly as far as you though haha Thanks for the info and suggestion. Appreciate it

No just take your bts out and put it in my truck! Mine needs some tlcLOLLOL Trade straight up!
