I am unaware of the differences, if any between the two as far as HP ratings. I was orignally told that the higher FICM tunes don't work well with a high tune like an sct extreme tune. IDP claims 25+rwhp i believe while others claim a 100hp hercules tune. Anybody ran both to show true differences?

Yeah exactly, the PHP ratings are if you are NOT running any ECM tuning. Most are saying they're not noticing any more power up top, but more down low. Makes drivability much more enjoyable. You actually get to use the first 1" of pedal travel now, where before it didn't seem to do anything. I noticed a big difference in highway cruising with the converter locked. Just roll on it a little bit and it just moves. Just seems to make it drive with less effort if that makes sense. Hills are also easier too and it doesn't lug as much. I'm digging it so far. I went with the Gryphon, mostly because I got a good deal on it used. I love the gauge function of it too. I watch ICP voltage/FICM voltage/EOT/ECT. Great addition.

I'm sure they're comparable. Most used to say use the FICM tuning to match the ECM tuning you're using, so if you use Innovative tunes to go with Innovative FICM tuning, but honestly I can't believe it'd make that big of a difference. I'm happy with mine so far. I like the fact that the Gryphon also holds 4 FICM tunes.

I had also heard good things about KEM's FICM tuning too, but they were the most expensive @ like $300 for a single FICM tune.

But, the fact that its custom tuning is worth the extra coin. Ive been trying to get hold of Mike for a custom file to go with my gearhead tuning and my 100% nozzles to get it to clean up hazing and get it more streetable, but I obviously havent gotten anywhere.

The KEM FICM tuning is custom tuning? What is he doing that's different than the other guys... news to me man. Glad we have these threads going...

I'm assuming you're required to send him a FICM first for him to tune on then? Or how does that work?

yeah he told me that for stock injectors there isnt a need to run custom ficm tunes. that the "performance" ficm tune is all thats needed with his tuning because everything else can be altered through his pcm tuning. once larger injectors are in, thats where people are having issues with the gryphon and the idp ficm tuner imo should be better because its custom. although im running stock injectors right now.

with stock injectors and srlxx i like the gryphon better. but i just bought 205's so ill see how it all works out when those go in. but im not a perfect example because i dont have erics pcm tuning.

We might be on to something here then...sounds like with stock injectors, the generic FICM tuning is just fine for most, but with larger injectors custom FICM tunes are the only way to go. Good to know guys. I wonder if Bill@PHP can write custom FICM tunes for the gryphon.... Hmmmm

I run canned SCT performance tune (don't judge me) and an atlas 80. I really enjoy the setup, truck is plenty drivable. I like it I have no dyno proof but I noticed a difference after installing the tuned FICM, not so much up top. But down low

Sent from in a ditch up side down and on fire with the wheels still spinning

OK I got the answer from Eric at IDP. he said "No, the tunes that are on the device are perfect for 90% of the trucks. The limiters are removed and it should help pull every ounce of fuel out with our tuning. That's the same tunes I run on our race truck."
