New here and I have a question. Our maint shop has 2 freshly rebuilt international 7.3l mechanical pump motors just sitting here. One is a basic block/heads/intake but the other is complete with fuel pump injectors and at190 garrett turbo. I have a 2000 PSD CC 6 speed that I'm gonna keep till the wheels fall off. Just wondering if I should try to snag one and maybe use it down the road. Fact is I don't know much will cross over. (HPOP vs mechanical pump/injectors) Should I try to ge one and put it away for a rainy day??? Are they worth anything performance wise? I can get both pretty cheap.

Thanks
Dan

The idi is a good motor( give little trouble and run a long long time if kept up) but they're no powerstroke by any means. Displacement is the same and that's pretty much the extent of the similarities. Just wait and find a psd from a member here if you want a spare for your truck

i like the mechanicals as well but i would not try to swap it in your truck someday. i agree with the above statement i would find another powerstroke engine
