I helped out neighbor swap his injectors and now the truck won't run worth a darn. Low boost code and idm codes which led me to do a buzz test where 1 & 4 fail. 1 is twice as loud as the rest and 4 is just a bit quieter. Both are ohming out at ~3.4 I guess I have been lucky with all the injector swaps I have done and have had no problem. I am going to clean the 42 and the idm connector and ohm from there. Any other thoughts ?

injector plugs may not be in all the way. Alot of people knock them off of loose while installing valve cover and have this issue.. Ohms fine, but once a load is on, it drops off

That's what I was worried about. Sucks being under each vc. The injectors are from full force diesel which I have always gotten them from and never had any issues.

Afraid I have forgotten all 7.3 PN's.. lol

But future ref... Set the valve cover on, dont bolt it, and run buzz test. this way you can just take cover off and see whats up

Go to International and get it, it is a lot cheaper.

Gotta have it today, I beat them down to 80 a piece. he finally found the part. I couldn't find anything physically wrong on the #4 injector. It ohms good, but i'm skeptical since the solenoid looks like it has had the **** beaten out of it. I'm going to put the new harnesses on it and buzz test and contribution before the valve covers go back on. This better work !

If it's still acting up, swap the #4 with the #6 and re-test.

Well I put the new uvch in there, passed buzz test. Then started truck and let it run then shut back down and it fails the buzz. Tried to do the cylinder contribution and it comes back with a code I can't remember at the moment A/c something code.

Then we swapped injector 1&3 problem stays at #1 so I don't think it is an injector. Buzz on the first is way louder than the rest also. All the connectors were re cleaned. Could the idm be bad? Every bad ism I have dealt with the truck will not run. ???????¿

Well the IDM was bad. Truck is still low on boost but the air filter was nasty, and it has some seriously leaky up pipes. So hopefully after some up pipe work and the clean filter it will run like it should. What a pain !

Might want to ohm out the full harness from IDM connector to injector to rule out a issue between UVCH and IDM. I have seen shorts in them reported quite frequently.

Especially where the wire budle goes across the driver side valve cover.

Got 1 in the shop now where the idm power supply was shorted to the shielded ground. Quite the pain to find. One day would run perfect then next day it would act up. Truck burnt up 2 idms, 1 was my test part too!
