this is a customers truck that we have worked on a few different times.
a little background info:
The first time the truck came in it was towed from Florida back home to Missouri because they were at the beach and the truck stalled out and wouldnt start. A dealer in Florida told them it needed an engine to the tone of $16,000. So the customer said no thanks and had it towed back home. He brought it to us and we hooked up the IDS and figured out the DPF was completely plugged up. Also checked the oil...it was WAY overfull. We drained the oil and drained out 24 quarts...of oil and diesel dilution. Called the customer and asked when the last time he had the oil changed..he stated right before they left for Florida and said the Walmart sticker is on the windshield. Well it just so happens the oil was 11,000 miles overdue for a change. So the oil had atleast 15,000 miles on it and was full of diesel. A few lifters had collapsed to we put in some straight 40w oil and got them pumped back up after running the truck for a little while. Dumped that oil and filled with 5w40 synthetic. Did dpf and egr deletes and added a Livewire programmer. Seemed to run okay when he left with it.
Brought the truck back the second time because after the truck sat overnight and he started it up in the morning to warm it up and after it idling for roughly 2 minutes he got this...

So we ran a powerbalance on it and cylinder #8 was hanging wide open so we replaced that injector, reprogrammed pcm and updated the livewire just to make sure all the electronics were in order. Truck ran fine and didnt smoke after a cold startup when he left with it.
Brings it back this time with a busted up high pressure turbo. The bearings were gone and the shaft was broken. heres a video of the turbo...

we replaced the high and low pressure turbo because the low pressure had shaft play. now after getting all of that done the truck runs fine. but still after letting it sit outside overnight and starting in the morning we still get the crazy smoking in the first video. almost like another injector is hanging wide open. only does it on a cold start up. if you start it, let it do its smoking thing, shut it off for 5 seconds and restart it wont do it for the rest of the day. still smokes like it does in the video but nothing like when it hangs open
long post but does anybody have a clue whats going on? will run another power balance tomorrow to check if another injector is hanging open.
