My 06 mods in signature, does it hurt anything to run that on stock tunes?
I just got a tranny only file to help my tranny. I like stock because the injectors and turbo seem to work best on stock. Grossing 32,000lbs l don't have to watch egts much at all. Its really nice.
Thanks

Shouldn't hurt anything. I drove around a while on a stock tune with 175s n no issues and it actually drove nice

I have got tunes from gear head, inovative, quick tricks that all run hot. Just got one from kem to try out also.
Vivian has got one dialed in very close, but still hotter than my stock tuning.

Stock parameters will usually run cooler on larger injectors... because you're fueling stock injector capacity.

Running like you are.. youre not utilizing the entire capability of the injectors.

What temps are you seeing?

Can you post a full mod list? I can't see your sig for some reason.

For obvious reasons...you need an actual tow file...it will help use all the power possible and still maintain temps with larger than stock injectors.

Warren 155/30% injectors, ported intake manifold, powermax with single plane wheel, banks intercooler, S&B, 4" down pipe to 5", regulated return.

I keep egts under 1400* so I'm not sure what they would hit.
I'm more than happy with the extra power I got with stock tunes, also like that I can hold it wot to pass and not back off the throttle all the time.

I run 175s and a billet powermax and keep temps well under 1500* at wot on a race file.

I think you'd be really happy with a dedicated tow file.

Not trying to be a ass, but I have ran many different tow tunes, all have ran hot. There is nothing wrong with the truck, exhaust and intakes have been tested.
Nothing has come close to how it does on stock tuning.
I'm not sure how you'll can run lower temps, I put a street tune on and hit 1500 by 60mph. I just want to make sure it won't hurt anything.

I enjoy the tow and street tunes, they are fun! But when I'm pulling it's just really nice to not worry as much. Lol

Then you may have issues elsewhere.

Hell my 225/100 and a 66mm pmax didn't get that hot that quick, driving normal.

What'd you say you were towing? 16k?

I tow up to 25,000 lbs.
I've had the truck tested, nothing has been found.
I would gladly let someone in the Colorado area drive it to see. I can keep egts down if I don't use the power, but why have it if I can't use it?

250 or 350?

You almost need a 450. That's heavy lol

Looking at your previous threads...are you still running a ficm tune? If so uninstall that.

Wow somethings up with 155s you shouldnt be that hot. Either you got bigger than 155s or youve likely got a leaky up pipe or something

Uppipes are good, did have a leak at the manifold but got that fixed.
It's not smoky.
I can keep egts safe, I just like how much lower they are on stock tunes.

It won't hurt anything if you run it on a stock tune. Just curious, are you keeping an eye on your icp?

To comment on temps with tow file vs. stock file....

I notice on any tow file (Matt's Unlimited tow, Erics tow) I run hotter than stock programming. Like 200-300 degrees lower at times. I'm on stock turbo and stock injectors as well. I would imagine that with bigger injectors it would be more noticable. I ran Matt's Unlimited Tow through I70 west of Denver last year. Constantly getting out of the throttle to keep it under 1400 degrees. Dropped back to stock, same trip, same load... and it got no higher than 1200, and I never had to lift. I was under the impression that a dedicated tow file didn't add more fuel?

As answered already stock tuning won't hurt anything. I ran with my 190/75s for about 2 weeks on stock tuning before my tuner arrived. It was actually peppy compared to stock injectors... I would compare it to a stock LBZ duramax probably. Little trans tuning and it would have been fun to drive as it was.

I can't believe it gets that hot... that doesn't sound right to me either.

I've towed my 22' travel trailer behind me with X-street and X-race on before... I've never had EGT's get out of hand. Sounds like you could probably use a little more air, but if you're not leaving an exhaust cloud behind you it also sounds like it's cleaning up well. Weird.

Like others have said you'll probably be fine with stock power tuning, but I would keep a trans only file to use for those cases.

Thought about a water/meth setup? Run like 80% water, 20% meth? Just for EGT purposes?
