I found the whole kit to add cab lights for 150 bucks. I thought it was a fair price so i went ahead and ordered it. Now im wondering where the harness will plug in to in the truck. Also wondering how to know where to mount each light? Its 09 crew cab

The kit should come with a template. And the wires for cab lights are I believe in the pass side a pillar. Don't know the colors

If you don't mind me asking where did you find this kit? The parts in the kit all OEM? Thanks

Here is a link to RECONS install guide, its for earlier superdutys but the lay out is the same. If you got the factory harness with the lights it should have a 2 prong plug on the end. On the 2008-2010's this goes down the drivers side pillar & under the dash there is a factory plug that matches up for the lights .It hard to see, & harder to reach.... but it is there.

I found the kit on ebay actually. Its the OEM harness and everything. Is the Recon kit any easier to wire? I would assume they just tell you to tap in power to whatever you want unlike the oem kit where you have to find the factory plug

Im a little confused as to how recon lights could be much different. A simple plastic housing and two wires running to it. How much different could they even be

I had recon mirror lights on my 08 mirrors. The truck was outside after a cold rain and the freeze over night broke the seal and they filled with water, clouding everything inside. Went back to oem with zero issues. My .02. I also just bought the oem cab light kit off eBay before I realized sunrise sponsored the site. I bet sunrise ford could put a kit together.

I wouldn't install the duracrap lights on your truck, you drive a ford not a Chevy. Plus they look weird. My opinion though.

Regarding recon, I've had their clearance lights on my last three trucks over a 10 year period and no issues at all. Two of the trucks I caulked around the lens, my last truck I didn't. They never leaked. If you over tighten the screws though, that could wrap the plastic to metal contact though.

I bought the factory Ford harness, plugs right in (as mentioned above, can be a little tricky but only need to do it once!), then I bought the factory Ford cab lights for the better sealed bases but also the Recon lenses with amber peanut bulbs. Still going to put a little bit more sealant on everything but just waiting for the dry weekend to drill the holes on the roof.

Is anyone able to describe where they found the plug on an 08-10? I have all the plastic taken out up in the rf kicker area and can't seem to find this plug. Truck is sitting in the garage with headliner down at the moment. On a side note, I hushmatted the roof with some 1'x1' pieces hoping to quiet down the interior just a touch.

LF kicker, driver side, you have to shove your head under the pedals, it is facing forward and a grey clip so you can't even see the spot where your new wire is going to plug in because it is facing the firewall. It's attached to the brackets too which didn't allow enough room to plug the new harness in, I had to pull it off the bracket to get the harness plugged in then push it back on the bracket after.

But yes, driver side on our trucks, I can snap a pic if you still can't see it.

Got mine installed last night. Ford factory harness and bases. I could not for the life of me find the plug so I hardwired in behind the headlight switch. I hate wiring and I am terrible at it but this was pretty straight forward. Also added recon bulbs and lenses even after I talked about having issues with them. They look great when they are new!
