how bad was it smoking, did it just start doing this, what codes did it throw, sounds like it could be a compression washer fail, or cracked tip but if it was i would think your cylinder would get filled with fuel and she would be locked

i had a compression washer fail on me and this is what it sounded like

What was it doing right before this happened? Was it running bad and got worse?

I had just finished a 1400 mile drive in 21 hours and 20 miles from the house BANG, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock. I was cruising at 75 mph, and was approaching a stop light that was red. I just lightly touched the brake pedal to bump off the cruise control, and lightly started to apply the brake. RPM's fell to 1500, and thats when I heard the bang and knocking after that. Other than to take the video, I haven't started it again. Now its at the dealership. Motor is BONE stock reman with 50K miles on it. FML!!! I should know by tomorrow whatsw wrong, but I'd love to hear everyones guesses. Right or wrong, post up some thoughts.

Not one bit of smoke either. Good oil Pressure, coolant needle didn't move off good, little smell of raw fuel out the tail pipe. oh, and not one single code has been thrown. I pulled the oil cap when I pulled over to check for smoke in case it was a cracked piston, and no smoke was coming out of it.

Really, even with the squeking and the knock? If so Ill be happier, cause thats alot cheaper than a new motor.

that sure sounds like a helluva lot more than just an injector. bottom end bearings, rod, etc. something big?

The first one I could here over my stereo, LOUD BANG, and it puts out the usual puff of white (split second worth ) when I start it.

not that I could tell. Sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the motor. You can faintly hear the squeal that started when the knocking did. It was immediate. That's what makes me think its the bottom end.

The rpm's and idle seemed normal. Had you hit anything that could've dented your oil pan? I would say that with it starting and running, your engine probably isn't trashed. The white smoke would make me think head gaskets, but bein' bone stock IDK. I would also wonder if maybe it could have been the turbo blowin'. That could cause a loss of power, smoke, and if it was loose enough on the inside it could be hittin' something internally on every rotation. The only problem with that theory is that the knock seemed to be in sequence with the rpm's and the turbo should be spinning much faster than that. I hate that it happened to you man. Curious to see the outcome.

ive had a spool valve blow off of the injector and it was banging up and down on top the injector lol. it sounded almost like that but not as loud. i agree, i think it could be a nozzle. they are pretty loud. doesnt sound like a bent rod or a piston hitting the crank lol i do not miss that sound. it was actually really quiet and i could barely hear it until i drove it.

honestly bottom end isnt loud at all. like i said before ive had pistons slapping my counter weights on my crank and it was nowhere near that loud. its possible but damn you must have really f'ed up lol
