Issue with DEF warning on dash

So I showed the 500 miles to empty warning for DEF. Since I'll be deleting next week I only put in one 2.5 gallon jug of DEF....less to drain out later.
Now the warning is still on the dash every time I start the truck and it's counted down to about 360 miles left now. I scrolled through all the menus on the dash and can't find a way to reset it. Did I miss something or do I have to fill it all the way? I really don't need it going into limp mode before I can delete everything. LOL

I haven't refilled mine yet, but I've read where you almost have to fill it up before it resets the gauge

You have to basically fill it up for it to reset do not think there is a manual way to do it. There is not a float sensor in that tank just 3 or 4 (cant remember exact amount) of level indicators down the side of the tank and when it hits each one and gives you the miles based on calculations it makes between those sensors and and how you drive.

Great...guess I'll have to pump 5 gallons of that crap out next week.

Thanks

Has 2 anode rods. Can determine full half tank or empty. The rest it just averages. So if you get to half tank the light will go off

So is running water in an active DEF system safe?

That's what I understand, but I just want to be sure.

It's fine. It's just not going to do its job. I would imagine if you did it enough and it was pure water in the tank you would get a code for it.

i ran 15k on nothing but hose water then got a low quality def code.. dumped a gallon of def in it and code went away. started using water again then i deleted the dpf..
