So let's say I found a 5r110 that was behind a 5.4 gasser in an 08 F350. Different torque converter I'm assuming? I have a friend that builds transmissions, and let's say I wanted him to build me a transmission that is better than stock using the one from the 5.4 i just want to be able to run the big tunes without worrying about the transmissions health, maybe down the road upgrade to a 71 or 72 mm atmo. I don't beat the living piss out of my truck, it might see a drag strip pass here and there And I might dyno it once or twice. Other than that I pretty much drive like an old man. LOL

So if I had it rebuilt this would be my list; elite's comp trans kit, billet input shaft, trans go shift kit and a better torque converter.

Is there anything else you would add to it? And why?

There are hard parts in the trans that have DIESEL or GAS stamped into them. Sprag is one of them offhand I can't remember the rest.

I would also ensure the bell housing pattern is the same, and yes the converter is different.

I'd use the gas one way clutch. The gas and diesel one ways are the same strength, but the gas version has less lash. The higher lash diesel version produces a noticeable clunk on the 2-3 shift. I tried to get the gas one way into the diesels, but it cost more, so no go.

There has only been one bellhousing pattern on all 5R110 transmissions. It will bolt up fine.
