Instead of cluttering up 4.0l sahara's thread i figured i'd start a new one.

Who all has lifted/pulled the cab off of these trucks to work on the engine, like most people do with 6.0's/6.4's? And if you have lifted the cab, how was it and what issues did you run into?

Reason i ask is some people said that lifting the OBS cab isn't much different than a SD cab. I've been thinking because i gotta do a bunch of different work under the hood, and i have access to a lift that i believe is tall enough to lift a cab up out of the way. I'm just trying to avoid having to lay ontop of the engine for a good portion of the weekend working on the truck if i can lift the cab without to much hassle.

Ever look into a top side creeper?
I'd love one but money is tight and theres really no where to keep one.
1.5hrs and the motor is out of the truck....

I'd love to pull the engine but right now thats not an option.

We also want to lift the cab up so we can clean up and paint the front of the frame.

I might try this soon just for fun. If I do I'll let you know how it goes.

Let me know how it goes. I've heard some guys say that its not much different than a SD, and i've talked to many guys who pull SD cabs on a regular basis and say they aren't that bad. So i'm hoping that a OBS cab isn't that bad. LOL

Just curious if you've tried it yet.

Been attempting to work on the up-pipe bolts over the past week or so, but the only way they are coming out is in pieces. So that either means the trans is coming out or the cab is going up. Which right now i want the cab to be gone as i have an oil cooler leak, wanna add manifold gaskets, and do some other fun stuff.

Just wish i had a lift here at home so i could go out and try it, instead of the lift being 30 minutes away in a buddies shop. Or i could always try to befriend my neighbor who has 2 lifts in his nice heated barn with heated floors. I'd just have to move his new Vette and 30's Ford pick-up out of the lift so i could use it. LOL

No I haven't. I have a OBS I plan on trying it on but it's mine and the shop is way too busy for my trucks currently. I'd say if you go to your buddies shop you could lift the cab in an evening pretty easy. Lol
