I have a question in looking at the real issue here which is that the 99-2004 at least parking brakes suck @$$ big time. Even properly adjusted I would be scared to death to have to rely on one of these if I have a manual trans on any kind of steep grade. With a full payload forget it. SO the question is can we add or swap a parking brake system onto these trucks? Specifically I was thinking about the 96-97 Super duty drive line brake that mounts between driveline trans/transfer Its a drum brake system. Then there is a disc brake driveline E-brake system that is popular with the Rock crawlers that goes between the transfer case and driveline. These are the brakes you see on motor homes as well. I think something like this is really the correct answer and to not have some serious liability issues. It would very likely pass an inspection as well. Its totally manual and could be wiring right into the stock P-brake actuator pedal. HRT, You come to mind of someone that might know if this is doable or not so extensive to be a reasonable modification /swap. Any other ideas in this area to address the problem? I need to look at the ones used by the crawler and what transfer cases they work with and the differences compared to ours. Its something that has always been an annoyance but not enough obviously to draw my full attention to it. But I have to say I am getting tired of slowly easing off the brake when parked on a grade to try and let it come to a rest gently on the trans parking notches. If its something that can be done and not cost 100s of hours or $$$ I would move it up the list that's for sure.
