here for the past couple weeks the truck has been a pita to start for the first time of the day. i have to cycle the glow plugs a few times to get it to fire off. outside temps have been in the 70s/80s during the day low 60s at night so i shouldnt have to rely on gp's to start it i wouldnt think. its never been this bad before just changed the oil has a couple hundred miles on it. my thoughts are low compression havent had a chance to check that theory yet. my question is, is there anything else that could go wrong that would exhibit these symptoms.

If the glow plugs aren't working it won't want to start even at 80*. Check the GP relay and go from there.

Did a load test on the bats both came back bad so hopefully that's the issue ran a multimeter across the gpr both sides showed a little over 12v so I'm going to try for new batterys and hope that's the cause

I've taken "bad" batterys out of these trucks and ran them in other vehicles for 2-3 years after they were no good in the truck. It takes 2 good, stout batterys to make these trucks start good. If they load test below 11.6V, they never seem to work for me.

I agree, could also have a dead cell , would test gp relay as well. if it test good then go to batteries. All the trucks we sell we put new batteries in just so there are no issues on that end because as mentioned above one bad battery will fubar you

The hell they wont. I went all winter with 7 of my 8 glowplugs not working. I had some hard times starting, but they definitely will start

You were lucky, and your injector o-rings must be in tip top shape. If you have no GPs and fighting any type of o-ring problems they won't want to start in just about any weather if they have sit for any amount of time.

They were only 6-7 months old, and my starter was weak too. Around february I put a new starter, 2 new batts, a new h.o. alt, and 7 new glow plugs. Once I realized it was probably my gp's, I started plugging it inbefore bed every night, and my god that made a huge difference.
