i read through the first page of the thread, did you ever find gears for it? im assuming you mean rear end gears?

do you know what rear end is in it? why not just swap in a 8.8 ford axle, found under the rangers and explorers ect. those axle's will take gears as high as 4:88 and parts and everything are readly available

The good stuff is farther in on the next pages clear up to the last page. No. Its got an independent front suspension and I don't want to lose that so I just added more power to compensate! Lol!

haha i like the more power idea! lol. but i was talking about the rear end. i forgot it was a 4x4 so i think the front is a ttb dana 28 or 35. so that might be harder finding gears for.

Yeah its pretty well impossible to get gears for it. Like I said though, after this rebuild i shouldn't have any more problems. There's a local guy that has a ranger with a 4d55 in it with less done to it than this one and all I can say is it hauls the mail! I was pleasantly surprised! Once its running right, it should be a whole new beast. I was happy with it before, but now I can't wait to get the last part I need and drive it Tuesday! Lol!

Well the big selling point of the little trucks with the 4d55 was how quick they were. The fastest little pickup in 1983 did a 21 second 0-60. In stock form these were said to do an 11 second 0-60mph. That's not bad even by today's standards!

Yeah theyre pretty nice when running right. A guy around here has a stock ranger with a 4D55 in it that will roast the tires in first and second. Only thing he's done is turn up the pump a little. That's why I'm so excited to get mine back together. Lol!

Well I have some amazing news, and some not so good news. Boost went from 15psi under full load and full throttle, to 20psi under 3/4 throttle! Its also whisper quiet now! Egts are a bit lower too. Its peppier too! Finally it stays cooler too. Before it would get too hot too quick. Not a problem anymore! Overall I am super happy with it! Just one tiny little problem. The oil leak didn't go away!!!!!!! Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! I think its the front main seal. That's the only thing i didn't replace. I guess I'll tear the dang thing back down again! Dang it!! The only other problem i had was the rocker arm shaft bolts started backing out. No big deal there cause its common. A little loctite and its fixed. But I'm definitely happy with the rest of it though! It really is a whole new truck!!
